ABOUT THE EVENT

The Sandspit Wild Harvest Festival, created in 2015, is a local, grassroots, inclusive Festival focused on the sharing of knowledge about the harvesting and varied uses of all things wild.

Even the most novice of foragers can learn about respectful and sustainable harvesting of wild edibles, about medicinal plants, about hunting or fishing, about traditional uses of all that our lands, forests, and oceans can provide to us.

We are fortunate to live in a place where the harvesting of wild plants, animals, marine life etc. is quite common and practiced by many, and with respect to local cultural traditions, wildlife, plant life and the environment at large, to preserve and protect this invaluable heritage for the future generations.

We would like to see more people foraging, getting interested in their environment and the nature that surrounds us.
This Festival is here to promote a healthy, clean environment for all

Through discussions, talks, presentations, workshops and outdoor activities, the Sandspit Wild Harvest Festival brings people together and out into the wild.

The Sandspit Wild Harvest Festival and its organizers acknowledge the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Haida Nation on which this event takes place.

We invite visitors to our islands to visit the Haida Gwaii Pledge Webpage and join the many visitors who have signed the pledge.

Come and participate in this year's Sandspit Wild Harvest Festival.
